Member States called on by the commission to adopt the IHRA working of Antisemitism

The fight against any racism is a fight against all racism. For that reason it is concerning the Commission is calling on Member States to adopt the #IHRA definition of antisemitism, a controversial and flawed document that has been used to prevent #Palestinians from speaking about their own oppression.

Cybersecurity problems: The best fixes aren’t always technical

The more digitised our societies are, the more vulnerable they are to network intrusion. But not all the fixes are technical. We should not expect systematically underfunded health services to choose between keeping our data safe or saving lives; we should fund them properly.

Lies from Croatia and the commission

Burkina Faso: Letting them forge their own destiny

It isn't enough for the #EU🇪🇺 to lament the coup in #BurkinaFaso🇧🇫 or call for a return to civilian government.
We must face up to the catastrophic, long term detabilisation of this entire region of #Africa by #NATO's assault on #Libya🇱🇾 in 2011, & the EU's neocolonial misadventures in the #Sahel, in particular the EU training mission in #Mali🇲🇱.

Crocodile tears from MEPs about Qatar sportwashing

Don't mind the rhetoric and crocodile tears from MEPs about #Qatar2022 sportswashing. The reality is #EU is systematically overlooking #Qatari human rights abuses, out of self interest.
It has cut itself off from #Russian energy on the basis #Russia is an authoritarian regime fighting an illegal war, only to cosy up to #Qatar, an authoritarian regime involved in an illegal war in #Yemen, all to get access to #Qatari energy.
If there was a #WorldCup for Hypocrisy we would walk away victors without a match being played.

Diabetes numbers skyrocket after an unexplained epidemic

  

An epidemic of diabetes is raging through Europe. Investment and research and support is urgently needed. Without a reversal in cuts to health and privatisation of care, diabetes risks exacerbating the dire socioeconomic inequalities in our societies.

It should be left to the Iranians to decide their fate as they strive for change

Everyone should support the right of ordinary people in #Iran to push for change in their country without harsh crackdowns.
How though? Too often #EU talks about "what we should do," rather than what we should not do, and what we should undo.
"Maximum pressure" is not helping Iranians. It is hurting them and making their struggle more difficult.
