Almost a year ago, homeless man Jonathan Corrie died across the street from Leinster House. His death may have embarrassed some of our politicians but unfortunately it did not motivate them enough to find lasting solutions to the housing crisis. In response to the tragedy, Minister Alan Kelly, announced some cosmetic changes to procedures in the homeless services, which led to more pressure on being placed on council staff without providing the actual resources for them to help people. One year on and as winter approaches the homeless crisis in Ireland has not improved. In fact, it has gotten much worse.

Shannon protest Saturday 18 July –

As Shannon Airport prepares to stage an air show on July 18th to celebrate its achievements in the world of aviation, peace groups in Ireland issue a reminder that its recent history is not one to be proud of. Since 2001 the airport has been used by the US military as a gateway to wars in the Middle East. These wars have resulted in the death of innocent men, women and children, left millions of people homeless, and destroyed communities and entire countries.
