To ask the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht further to Parliamentary Question Number 255 of 25 June 2015, the action, if any she has taken since June 2015 to stop bait digging on Bull Island, a practice described by naturalists as inconsistent with the Nature Reserve status of the island and which is having a negative impact on birds on the mudflats.
Clare asked the new Ministers for Environment and Arts to clarify the function of their departments and which departments are now responsible for Environment and Nature.
To ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to which Departments, the Environment functions of his Department have passed; if he has successfully split all of the functions of the former Department or if he has dispensed with any of its functions.
Clare raises the need to recognise the role of women & workers in the 1916 commemorations, while trying to also get the Minister to ensure that National Parks & Wildlife Officers have enough resources to pursue & enforce hare coursing permits…unfortunately the questions were not selected for discussion & Minister Humphreys is off the hook again…
To ask the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht if she is satisfied that adequate space in the official programme for the 1916 centenary celebrations has been allocated to commemorating and celebrating the central role of Irish workers and women in the events of 1916.
Minister again fails to take decisive action to deal with the horror of hare course.
To ask the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht her views in relation to whether she is concerned at the fact that National Parks and Wildlife Service officers only visited 17 out of the over 75 coursing events which were held during the 2014/2015 coursing season; her plans regarding same; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
